t 12, San Marcos, California, native Sean Caster beat his runner-father Kevin in a 5K. At 17, he followed in the footsteps of grandfather Darol by qualifying for and then running in the Boston Marathon. Today a cross-country runner for UC Riverside — he transferred as a sophomore from San Francisco State — he believes the team has what it takes to win the Big West Conference next year. Though he’s a rising senior, Caster has three seasons of eligibility remaining, and hopes to attend graduate school at UCR.
