UC Riverside is celebrating Homecoming 2022 with two days of in-person, on-campus events and there is something to fit everyone’s type of fun.
Although some of the Nov. 18 & 19 events are exclusively for alumni and their guests, most are open to the rest of the Highlander community and the general public. There’s even a way for people from around the world to join in the fun by supporting highlander students.
For Alumni Only
Alumni can reserve tickets for themselves and up to 10 guests to an outdoor concert headlined by Southern California rock legends, The Beach Boys. (What, really?!) Opening the concert will be alumni DJs Alf Alpha and Yimbo, who will be soundscaping the afternoon with a mix of electronic, hip-hop, and other groovy sounds. Pre-concert fun also includes a classic car show, Ferris wheel rides, and giveaways.
Free UCR t-shirts are available for alumni and UCR-branded beach towels for the Class of 2020 will be available for pickup at the UCR Alumni Association concert booth, both while supplies last.
The Beach Boys concertgoers have until Nov. 14 to pre-order a UCR Dining gourmet picnic meal. On the day of the concert, limited food options will be available at The Habit and select food trucks. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase and consumption near the Bell Tower for 21+ concertgoers.
For Homecoming VIPs Only
Members of giving societies and other select groups of university supporters/volunteers who attend the Beach Boys concert will have access to a VIP Lounge area with complimentary picnic meals and bar service. To qualify for the VIP Lounge experience, Highlander alumni are encouraged to offer financial support for UCR students by joining one of our Giving Societies.
For Students, Faculty, Staff, and the General Public
Everyone is invited to the following celebrations, so bring family, and friends, and get ready to make new connections with Riverside locals. Nothing is more synonymous with a school’s homecoming than basketball. (Cue every high school and college movie ever made.) Get your Highlander pride pumping for our men’s basketball team as they play the Occidental Tigers or support our women’s volleyball team as they play UCSB Guachos. Go, Highlanders! (Please note: Basketball tickets are free for students but must be purchased by all others. Volleyball is free to all.)
Music lovers are invited to Homecoming Odyessy, a free-to-all on-campus concert, hosted by UCR’s ASPB. Enjoy food, attractions, fireworks, and a music lineup that includes ARMNHMR and Weston Estate with student DJ opener Digital Twin.
Consider purchasing tickets to these fundraisers that support student programs and scholarships. Fitness fans and supporters of our Native American community can register for our 17th annual Spirit of the Tribes 5K. Individual registration is available or register in a group of 5+ for a discounted rate. Celebrate UCR’s bold hearts and brilliant minds at the Chicano Student Programs 50th Anniversary Gala, Black Alumni Chapter Scholarship Gala, and Celebration of Medical Education Gala.
For Everyone Around the World
Wait! We almost forgot. UCR’s beloved mascot and everyone’s BFF, Scotty the Bear is celebrating another year of UCR Life and the only birthday gift he’s asking for is your support for his Highlander family by making a donation to UCR. And there’s no better time than now because thanks to Jeff Krynski ’81, UCR trustee and former president of the UCR Alumni Association Board of Directors, there’s a match doubling every dollar given.
