Richard is a public and population health scientist and medical sociologist who studies how social factors, such as socioeconomic status and race-ethnicity contribute to physical and mental health. His research focuses on a range of health issues and populations, including the many social, behavioral, and policy factors underlying vaccination hesitancy, uptake, and coverage in the US, Canada, and beyond. Richard is also a member of The Lancet Commission on Vaccine Refusal, Acceptance, and Demand in the U.S.A., which brings together experts from a range of fields to develop strategies to address these pressing public health challenges.

Brandon Brown, associate professor of public health and ethics
Brandon is the head of the campus Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (CAMP) program. Brandon is chair of the board of directors of TruEvolution, which fights for health equity and racial justice to advance the quality of life and human dignity of LGBTQ+ people. Brandon has a MPH in epidemiology and a PhD in international health. He has appeared in over 120 media interviews related to the COVID pandemic. He has also published on the topic of COVID and HIV infection as part of his 100+ publications in infectious diseases and research ethics.

Ashish Sood, associate professor of marketing
Ashish’s research focuses on issues pertaining to innovation, technology management, emerging markets, and marketing strategy. His research has been published in Harvard Business Review, Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Research, and Journal of Marketing among many other outlets. The findings from his research have been published and re-printed in more than 60 books, thought-leadership publications, and business press articles. More recently, he has published numerous articles on the dynamics of spread of COVID-19 pandemic and the efficacy of diverse non-pharmaceutical interventions across countries.

Sean Jasso, professor of practice in the UCE School of Business
Sean’s area of study and expertise is in political economy, public policy, strategic management, and business ethics. He has worked in hospitality and healthcare industry and applies these practices into his own consulting field. His approach is in the effort to establish a transdisciplinary method of using political and management theories to help organizations and individuals reach their potential.
