With elections around the corner, UC Riverside public policy student Sam Roberts has been working hard to register students to vote.
You can find him at a table by the bell tower where he asks students to sign up, handing out informational material and voter registration forms to passersby.
Roberts’ goal is to get his classmates to the polls in time for California’s March 3 primary. Voting is a way of voicing an opinion, and of taking charge of the future, he said during a recent UC Newsroom interview.
“The decisions being made have a major impact on our lives, and college students need to be able to weigh in,” Roberts said.
Students face a different world than their parents and grandparents, Roberts noted, and decisions being made at the ballot box will impact their lives in the future.
