The University of California, Riverside’s 47th annual Writers Week Festival is set for Feb. 10 and Feb. 12-16, 2024.

The event, co-sponsored by UCR Department of Creative Writing and the LA Review of Books, is free and open to the public. UCR’s Writers Week Festival is the longest-running free literary festival in California. The week will honor three literary giants: Dave Eggers, Quincy Troupe, and Rigoberto González through Los Angeles Review of Books/UCR Department of Creative Writing Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Writers Week will offer virtual and in-person events, with all sessions captioned and ASL translated.

Los Angeles Review of Books/UCR Department of Creative Writing Lifetime Achievement Awards to honor Dave Eggers, Quincy Troupe, and Rigoberto González during the 47th annual UCR Writers Week Festival taking place February 2024.

“Our 47th annual literary festival remains free of charge, and all are welcome to attend!” said Allison Adelle Hedge Coke, Writers Week codirector and distinguished professor of creative writing whose latest book, “Look at This Blue,” (Coffee House Press, 2022) was a finalist for the National Book Award for Poetry. Hedge Coke’s work recently garnered her the 2023 Thomas Wolfe Prize and Lecture. “We are thrilled to bring incredible representation from across the lit field into a single week for a sensational foray into the best of the best in literatures of today. There is something here for every reader.”

Festival attendees are also invited to a February 16 post-festival ticketed celebration with Lifetime Achievement Award partner, LA Review of Books.

“Writers' Week is an amazing resource for anyone interested in creative writing — you get to see and interact with the most distinguished writers in the world and the most interesting up-and-coming writers,” said Tom Lutz, Writers Week codirector, distinguished professor of creative writing, and founding editor-in-chief of Los Angeles Review of Books. His latest book is “Portraits: Moments of Intimacy on the Road” (Rare Bird Lit, 2022). “I wish I had this kind of access when I was a student, or when I was writing my first books. It is a real window into the writing life.”
